This is the Third Ohio State Wake Up Call presented by the Ohio State Wakeboard Team. It is a grass roots tournament open to all levels of abilities and to all who want to compete.

The things you need to know are:

When: May 7th , 2011, registration begins at 7:30AM day of at Ursus located at 2814 Fishinger Road, Upper Arlington, OH 43221 (THIS IS ONLY FOR REGISTRATION. DO NOT PARK AT THIS LOCATION FOR THE EVENT)

Where: Scioto River / Griggs Reservoir

What: A Wakeboard Tournament with five classes of competition;

Beginner: (no inverts)

Women

Advanced: (1-3 inverts)

Outlaw: (4+ inverts)

Wakeskate

Each class is allowed one wildcard where you can try to go for whatever you want to.

For an additional $20 you can compete in another class. (i.e. a girl could do womens and intermediate or a person could do wakeskate and a wakeboard division but you could not do advanced and beginner)

Wondering what these new system bindings are like? Are they a worthy upgrade to your current setup? Why not come and see for yourself why Jimmy Lariche and his System Bindings work so well at dominating the sport. We are going to hold this event on Conneaut Lake right next to the shop Thursday June 16th. Total of 16 slots available at $20 for a half hour slot. Don’t worry, for $20 you can hang out at the dock all day and swim, ride the stand up, surf, check out the new gear and get some tips from Jimmy. The conditions should be great as far as boat traffic, we hope that it won’t rain.. If it does and we have to cancel than of course we will refund your $20. Jimmy LaRiche has developed his first Pro Model for Hyperlite, the Franchise! The name of the board touches on Jim’s importance to the Hyperlite team but it also represents his philosophy about the shape. The goal was to create a long lasting, innovative shape that everyone can hop on and in one ride feel as if they are home. A continuous rocker of 2.65” lays the foundation for a fast board that carves and edges with ease. The Franchise rocker is largest continuous rocker in the Hyperlite line providing maximum pop off the wake. The innovative and industry first Tapered Channels narrow at the tip and tail aligning the Dual Fin Configuration to increase the boards edge hold on approach to the wake. With any approach style, the Franchise will deliver a pop off the wake like no other. The overall profile of the board and reduced tip and tail profile reduce swing weight for simple rotation on flat and inverted spins. On landings we found that Jim never touched down dead flat, the Franchise incorporates 2 soft landing spins for cushy entries on either edge. Shaped by Greg Nelson for our Franchise rider, the LaRiche Pro Model will provide any Wakeboarder an unforgettable ride.

But don’t worry; the organizers of The Third Annual Rockin’ the River Boaters’ Bash for Charity have the next best thing… Sean West and The Poets and Pirates, The Kenny Chesney Tribute Band with special guest The Vagrants. Sean and his band are one of the hottest touring tribute acts in the country and provide the same high energy shows that made Kenny himself so popular. So clear your schedule for August 7th and make plans to head to the North Shore for what is sure to be the highlight of 2010!

Although the entertainment should prove memorable, this event is about so much more than just music. The Chinese Auction will once again feature a variety of great items for everyone to “bid” on that will interest every taste in addition to other raffles. There will also be new boats from various dealers and the newest tow vehicles and cars on display from our friends at Century 3 Chevrolet, Century 3 Kia, Monroeville Dodge and Monroeville Mazda. Various other displays will also be up from both boating related businesses and businesses outside the boating industry.

For those that want to be a part of the event, a $25 donation per person will be money we spent. You will receive dockage for the weekend at the North Shore, a catered dinner, commemorative t-shirt, complimentary Chinese Auction tickets, door prize tickets and access to the VIP tent during the concert. In addition, you will have a great view of the Sky Blast fireworks being put on by the Pirates.

The Water’s Edge invites you to kick off summer right at the 4th edition of our grassroots competition. Whether you’re just getting the board underneath you or throwing down hammers (doing big tricks) with ease…all ages and skill levels are encouraged to participate. This event has grown each year – so we expect to see familiar faces alongside many new ones.
